Review: Intercity Hotel Berlin Hauptbahnhof, Berlin, Germany - June 2017

Detailed video review of the InterCity Hotel at Berlin Hauptbahnhof (main railway station) from a week long visit to Germany in June 2017.



I stayed at the InterCity Hotel at Berlin Hauptbahnhof for one night in June 2017. The hotel is located a short 5 minute walk from Berlin Hbf (which is why I chose it), as I had an early train to catch the next morning. The room cost £61.19 booked with Expedia.



The hotel is very new, and InterCity is a good mid-range brand. The reception was large and well decorated with art and lights. Upon check-in I stressed to the receptionist that I would like a room on a high-floor with a view over the railway station. The receptionist then proceeded to 'upsell' me a 10 Euro extra 'Business Class Room'. He told me that this would cater for my needs, but in fact he lied to me in order to make a sale. I was very annoyed when I realised this and went back to reception to complain to one of his colleagues (he sheepishly avoided me). I had to wait 30 minutes in the hotel bar for the change of room to be made, and eventually I was given room 706, which was perfect. I'm mentioning this now as this receptionist gave me a very negative first impression of what is actually a very good hotel.



My room (706) was modern, air-conditioned and very comfortable. It had a double bed, chair, table, desk, TV, mini-bar, double wardrobe and safe. The bathroom was new and shiny with a flat accessible shower, hair-dryer and all the usual stuff that you would expect.



This film includes views of: reception; a detailed room inspection of room 706; the view from room 706; the inner courtyard; lift / elevator; and restaurant.



I would definitely stay in this hotel again in future, but I definitely won't be fooled into taking a 'Business Class Room' - nor should you be!
